I took this class so that I could study the Bible as a story rather than a textbook. Although there may be some historical events in the Bible, I think the ultimate purpose of these is to provide context for the broader stories. There are metaphysical and social ideas or guidelines that come from the Bible, but I think its best not to look at these as rigid laws of the Divine.
