New Testament as Literature has been a class that I've been wanting to take for a while now. Finally, in my last semester here at Loyola, I was able to make it work with my schedule! Although I consider myself to be a practicing Catholic, I am acutely aware that there are many things I don't know of fully understand. One of those things in particular is the Bible, especially the New Testament. Although I have attended religious schools all my life, stories from or about the Bible, were only briefly touched upon. I have a major in Women's Studies with a minor in Medieval Studies. Through the work that I have done within the Medieval Studies department, I have become familiar with the history of Catholicism, the Roman Catholic Church, and the theological notions and concepts used at that time. However, I would like to understand my own faith from a textual perspective implementing the knowledge I already have, with a more solid understanding of what it means to be a catholic in 2012. There are already things that we have covered in the first 2 class periods that have 'blown my mind' simply because I've never truly taken a class like this. Looking forward to seeing where I find myself at the end of the semester!
