I am interested in Mark 7:17-23. According to New Oxford Annotated Bible (NRSV), this verse shifts the focus from bodily functions to the inner motivations of “defiling,” socially destructive behavior. Jesus says that his disciples do not understand that whatever goes into a person from the outside is not unclean, it is what comes out in the "sewer" that is unclean.
