Blog (0) Rebeca Triana

Similar to many people taking this class, I have gone to school at Catholic institutions all of my life. I have been taught many things about the Roman Catholic Church (such as the history and procedures of the Catholic mass), and understanding what it means to be a Christian/Catholic, but my knowledge goes as far as just prayer and faith. I am glad that I have been able to grow my faith all these years and learn more about my particular religion, but I honestly still feel like I do not know very much about Catholicism, or Christianity for that matter. As everyone already knows, students do have to take a certain number of religion classes to fulfill their DPCL requirements, but there are a lot of other religion courses I could have taken. I chose to take New Testament as Literature in particular because I felt like I would gain a full understanding and good perspective of not just the Bible, but of my religion as well. I really like learning about history and different cultures, so I know I am going to enjoy learning about the people and how they lived in the New Testament through that sort of aspect as well. I feel like this class will help me also not just understand religion, but gain skills towards analyzing literature, critically thinking, and helping me actively interact with other classmates by sharing different beliefs and opinions as well. I have already learned a ton of new things and gained some experience working with other classmates just from our first two classes, so I am already really looking forward to this semester's class!
