The gospel of Matthew is one of the four gospels in the Holy Bible and is the longest of the four gospels with 28 chapters.  Scholars estimate that this book was written in about 70 A.D.  In this book, Matthew gives many different personal accounts of the miracles that Jesus performed before being crucified on the cross.  This book is divided into sections that describe the different times in Jesus life.  These parts in Jesus life can include anything from the birth of Jesus to walking on water.
Many people often ask, “why is the book of Matthew even important or what is the significance?”  This book is the one the clearly states that Jesus is the Son of God and that he lived his life for others sharing and performing miracles.  Much of Matthew are collections of stories that Jesus has been a part of that have a valuable meaning.   They have an excellent message for the reader and a way that all of us Christians should live and demonstrate our faith.  All of these stories and words that are written here in Matthew can be applied to our everyday life.  Matthew 6:2 talks about giving to others and reasons we should want to give things to people who may or may not be less fortunate than us.  Matthew 6:14 is a great one that talks about forgiving others.  We all have had someone in our life that has made us upset or angry, but forgiving someone can be awfully hard and often takes time.  For someone who is just starting to read the bible, Matthew is a wonderful place to start to gain knowledge and information about how one should live their life and treat others.
